Our Mission: Empower sustainable change in urban communities by addressing public safety challenges.
Who we are: Empower Initiative provides technical assistance using forerunning strategies, solutions, and trainings in order to reduce systemic issues that are negatively impacting our urban communities.
We spend time with community and civic partners who are committed to the work of peacemaking and trust building while determining opportunities for change.
Based upon our research, we make recommendations on evidence-based strategies that build capacity in existing stakeholders while providing technical assistance around strategic planning.
Launching strategies and programming, with partners, we provide technical assistance and lead programming while empowering existing community partners to take the lead.
Join a 2 week training module that will empower your capacity to mentor men and women exiting the cycle of violence. In Session 1, we will build your awareness around the Ceasefire strategy, implemented to reduce shootings and homicides in Oakland and position you to hear from previously-impacted voices. Session 2 involves a full-day training with our community partner, The Mentoring Center, to provide high-end training on evidenced-based strategies you can participate with. We will provide you with next steps and support your initiation to this much needed support. Breakfast and Lunch provided for both!
